Head Coach

Seb has over 15 years of experience in Judo, competing in UK, Europe, Japan & Australia. He was awarded his black belt in 2015 and also has a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.


With Postgraduate qualifications in Exercise & Sports Science with martial arts research experience, accompanied with a Level 2. State Coaches accreditation, Seb brings high-level  modern day Judo expertise to the mat.

Senior Coach

Since commencing Judo in the UK in 1967, Kevin has successfully competed at all levels from Junior to Veterans, gaining his Shodan at the Budokwai in London aged 17 and he achieved competitive promotion to 5th Dan in 2007.

He has trained and competed in Europe, USA, Australia and Japan and is a multiple medalist in National, Pan Pacific, European, British Open, Australian Masters Games, Commonwealth and other International Championships. Kevin was a member of the GBR National Squad in the 1970’s and a five time member of the GBR Masters Squad. In 2003 he achieved 7th place in the World Masters Championships.

In Kata, Kevin is a multiple medallist at the Qld International Open, JFA National, Pan Pacific and  OJU Sydney International Kata Championships.

Kevin is accredited as a State Level Coach. He has coached numerous national championship medallists in Australia and Great Britain and International representatives in both countries. Kevin is joint Head Coach and President of UQ Judo Club where he began coaching and training in 2008. He has been a Qld State Coach since 2014 and is a Qld ‘B’ referee.

In 2017, Kevin was appointed as OJU Veterans Director and an IJF Veterans Commissioner. He has been a Director of Judo Queensland since 2014 and a Qld Grades Commission member since 2013.



Meg's sporting career started in swimming at age 3 and subsequently was in the team for 10 years. Realising that competing in speed against a stopwatch was not her cup of tea, and with both parents black belts of Karate and Shorinji Kempo, she decided to visit a Karate dojo to join in but entered a Judo dojo by mistake. At age 13, she began her Judo career when a big man her by the neck and said, “Welcome to my dojo.” 


2015-2018;I have won 2 gold, 1silver and 1bronze National Championships (under 57)

2011-2018; I have won 5 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze Queensland International Championships

2017-2018; I have won 5 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze ACT, Sydney International Championships, State Title and Uni game

Meg practices Judo with 2 main teachings - ”Seiryoku Zenyo” and “Jita Kyoei”.






Club Coach

John is a Judo Brown Belt and Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt. John is a qualified Judo instructor with the Judo Federation of Australia and travels frequently to support the Elite UQ Judo Club athletes at all levels of competition, state, national and international. John is also a student at the University of Queensland studying Exercise Physiology.

Charisma Taylor

Club Coach


Charisma is a Judo Brown Belt, Jiu-Jitsu Blue Belt, a qualified Judo instructor with the Judo Federation of Australia and a member of the Australian Judo Team. Charisma is also a student at the University of Queensland studying Business.
